Barriers to agri-PV identified
Dual-use of land is highly popular - among farmers as well as investors and project developers. Germany has its own support for this. But as well conceived as the approach is, it is poorly implemented. Now there is a policy paper in which the obstacles have all been summarised.
The technical possibilities for the combined use of land for food and electricity production can be found in our specials, published by the editors of PV Europe together with the DLG. This and other topics related to the decentralised supply of green energy to farms will be one central focus at the next Agritechnica, which will take place from 12 to 18 November 2023.

Obstacles continue to slow down agri-PV in Germany
With agri-PV, food and solar power are produced simultaneously on agricultural land. The amendment to the German Renewable Energy Sources Act 2023 generally promotes the technology. However, some corrections are needed quickly to accelerate the promotion of this innovative technology.

Make a note in the diary: Next Agritechnica takes place in November 2023
The next trade fair for agricultural machinery and smart farming is already planned. It will take place from 12 to 18 November 2023. One of the central focal points will be the use of solar energy on the farm as well as on the fields. Here, exhibitors meet an eager audience.

Webinar March 16, 2023: Battery Energy Storage Systems: Worth the hype?
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) of all sizes are an important pillar of the energy transition. They can store surplus solar and wind power and make it available when needed. In this way, BESS can help keep power grids stable. In addition, peak-shaving, frequency regulation or other ancillary services open up new business models.

BayWa r.e.: 4 new „fruitvoltaic“ pilot projects
BayWa r.e. accelerates Agri-PV research with four new pilot projects in the Netherlands, Austria and Germany. These “fruitvoltaic” systems combine food and solar energy production on the same land and aim to improve fruit quality through research on plant health, growth and production, while reducing waste due to plastic foil.

Franz-Josef Feilmeier of Fenecon: „Don‘t be afraid of C&I storage solutions“
Energy prices are skyrocketing. Now is the time for solar self sufficiency. For commercial use there are some more opportunities by bigger storage systems for solar energy. They buffer the consumption and diminish the costs for grid connection, as Franz-Josef Feilmeier explains. He is founder and CEO of Fenecon.
